How can it be “bad”? “ Noel Gallagher was asked why the drums start so soon, to which he replied, “I do songs for a feeling… They’re there because I think it sounds good. Who wants to hear a “sensitive singing” can try the cover version done by Brian Adams (but it’s pretty boring). The uniqueness of this song probably rests in this special combination. What is even more strange that it fits this “sensitive” song quite nicely. Liam Gallager just belted out this love-song as pretty much any other rock-n-roll hit. Producer of the album ( What’s the Story) Morning Glory? Owen Morris, commented that Liam’s voice sounded like “raspy blues, after smoking 100 cigarettes.” Probably the number wasn’t far from the truth. The singing is straightforward - its accent is constant throughout the whole song, so it sounds almost robotic. I only listen to Oasis sporadically, and last time I was quite surprised when a friend of mine told me that Wonderwall is the most overplayed song that new bands play at rehearsals. Gradually, I started to like other songs too and soon it became the best band for me … I skipped a lot of tracks on the CD and stopped only by hits like Acquiesce, Stand By Me and Wonderwall. It was in the listening room of the regional library and it may sound like it comes from the last century, but it was this century and I think the room is still there. There was an article about a band called Oasis which was supposed to be the successor to the Beatles… “How’s that? I didn’t know them at all … ” Two years went by before I started to listen to this band more “seriously”.
